About Me
Hi, I’m Valerie Miller. I have spent the last 30+ years working closely with children, adults and families to support their growth, development and learning. I’m deeply passionate about helping students not only learn and retain skills, but also build their confidence and develop a life-long love of learning.
I thoughtfully implement and develop creative, multisensory instructional methods tailored to each student’s individual needs and interests. I strive to create collaborative, engaging, nurturing and inclusive learning environments.
Over the years, I’ve gained a wealth of life and professional experience through homeschooling, private tutoring of both neurotypical and neurodivergent students, and roles such as an Early Childhood Program Developer and Director. My background includes curriculum development and family support services.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood (Summa Cum Laude), with a certification in Special Education. Through utilization of Orton Gillingham methodologies, I provide multisensory, explicit (step by step), systematic writing, reading and spelling instruction.
Committed to life-long learning and personal growth, I continuously expand my knowledge by participating in certification courses, webinars, podcasts and conferences.
Outside of tutoring, I love spending time with my family - including a lively group of grandchildren who keep me laughing and appreciating everyday moments. I also enjoy hiking, gardening, and watching the antics of our four goats and growing flock of chickens.
I look forward to connecting with you and creating thoughtful, personalized solutions to meet your unique needs.
